Morphed explicitly teaches morphemes to build vocabulary, all without ever asking teachers to become literacy specialists.
Reading is the ceiling on every subject.
is that missing literacy layer.
Morphed is a subscription, computer-based program.
Teachers log in to see their class and enter in the words that will be relevant for the students in that class. When they enter their vocabulary, morphed will segment those words into morphemes and determine which morphemes will yield the highest return for that topic. Those morphemes are then pushed out to students in short, productive activities.
Students will often watch a short, simple animation that describes the meaning of the morpheme, will have to link morphemes with meanings and produce words into short sentences to demonstrate their understanding.
Over time these morphemes build the student’s morpheme ‘wall’ for that subject, and they will spend the last portion of each lesson being shown morphemes they have learnt in the past.
Drawing upon what we know about the impact of retrieval practice, dual coding theory and expressive/receptive learning, the learning design is intentionally crafted with cognitive science and science-of-reading principles informing its steps.
Multiple studies have demonstrated the positive impact of morphology on literacy.
Your school, system or district purchases a subscription that can also link with your LMS. Each student has a login that connects them to a specific class and teacher. Teachers create their classes and define their topics.
